Consensus
It is planned to hold a consensus on integrative oncology topics at regular intervals (e.g. every 2 or 3 years) within the framework of the SNIO.
In the first version of the consensus, it is planned to deal with fundamental topics in integrative oncology, such as a common understanding of the human being, attitudes to health and illness, communication, dealing with evidence, etc. These fundamental topics will then be discussed again in the subsequent versions of the Consensus, which will also deal with therapy issues, and revised/expanded if necessary. The planned methodology is a Delphi process with several rounds and a final consensus conference.
At the kick-off consensus meeting on 21.11.2024 at the Swiss Oncology and Hematology Congress SOHC in Basel, the planned process and initial topic proposals will be presented to all panelists and other interested parties and further possible topics for the consensus will be collected from the participants.
The result of the consensus should be the publication of a consensus paper, which should be published in Switzerland and also published in an international peer-reviewed journal.

Research
The primary objective of the SNIO Research Working Group is to promote Swiss multi-center clinical research projects that actively involve young researchers, patients, and multiple disciplines, while also addressing key questions in implementation research.
The group meets four times a year, with at least one in-person meeting each year to review and discuss ongoing projects. Members are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts to the Swiss Oncology and Hematology Congress (SOHC), and an annual scientific session at the SOHC is planned.
To participate in these clinical research projects, SNIO centers must meet the following quality criteria:
- Adherence to the standard SAKK criteria required for centers involved in SAKK clinical research projects.
- Compliance with the quality standards for diagnostic and interventional integrative oncology, as defined by the SNIO Consensus Criteria (developed by the SNIO Consensus Working Group).

Education
The SNIO Education Working Group aims to achieve the following global objectives:
- Education of general oncologists: Enhance awareness of integrative oncology among general oncologists and provide them with actionable knowledge for their daily practice.
- Education of integrative oncology professionals (doctors, nurses, therapists): Support newcomers in developing their curricula and provide opportunities for experienced professionals to share their expertise and foster interdisciplinary collaboration through continuing education.
- Establish quality criteria for integrative oncology education: Gradually define an integrative oncology curriculum in Switzerland.
These objectives will be pursued through a step-by-step approach. The group meets approximately every two months via videoconference, with one or two face-to-face meetings per year.
